Rock 'n Roll Street Terschelling: 11, 12 and 13 September

Every year in September, the village of Midsland on Terschelling transforms into a buzzing rockabilly paradise. During Rock 'n Roll Street, you travel back in time for an entire weekend, to the swinging 1950s. Think greased quiffs, candy-floss hairdos, fluttering petticoats and the wonderful sounds of live rock 'n roll echoing through the streets. Whether you're a true enthusiast or just in the mood for a unique day out, this festival is an experience you won't forget anytime soon.

What is Rock 'n Roll Street?

Rock 'n Roll Street is a free street festival entirely devoted to the 1950s. National and international bands create an infectious atmosphere with rockabilly and rock 'n roll. Between performances, you'll see dance demonstrations, gleaming classic cars and authentic Solex mopeds that complete the nostalgic picture. It's a festival for young and old, where everyone feels at home, whether you style your hair into a quiff or slip into your prettiest petticoat.

Back to the 1950s

As soon as you walk into Midsland, you can feel the atmosphere of days gone by. The streets are hung with vintage decorations, and the smell of fresh candy floss and hot dogs fills the air everywhere. Classic cars are proudly parked while enthusiasts show off their best dance moves to the music. It's one of those rare events where the whole area becomes one big time trip together. Feel free to put on your coolest leather jacket or your most cheerful dress and dance along.

The Rock 'n Roll Street Programme

The festival has its own atmosphere during the day and in the evening, so there's something to experience all day long.

Through the streets by day

During the day, the streets of Midsland are freely accessible. You stroll past stages with live performances, enjoy dance demonstrations and admire the classic cars and Solex mopeds. Perfect for wandering around with the whole family and soaking up the atmosphere without having to pay for anything.

Swinging in the pubs and cafés by night

As soon as the sun sets, the party moves to the pubs and cafés of Midsland. Here, the bands keep playing into the late hours. For the evening performances, you'll need the traditional Rock 'n Roll pin, which you can buy at the merchandise stand. The proceeds largely fund the festival, so you're directly supporting a wonderful island event.

More information about the line-up can be found on the website of Rock'n Roll Terschelling.
